Nowadays I see young parent came into the food court to eat lunch with their baby. Baby like less than 1 years old sit I to the baby chair straight away the mother pull out iPad to “distract” the poor baby.
This is so that the parent can have time to take their meal or deal with noise and unwanted crying.
This reminds me about my childhood when we do not have internet when young, our parent just ditch us at grandparent place so that both parent can go working to so call earn enough to bring back to the family. I think all these contribute to detachment issue. When we grow up we often ask why is this world so unfair and we are not given a choice but to put us thru this.
Now, with internet so popular. Giving iPad is like feeding a soft drug to children which will create addiction earlier than us. When they get older they will also ask why give this to me when I am young. I didn’t ask for it. But human will always take the easier way out.
Dream of flying to Spain with Jackie. It was due to a very special ticket discount of $22. SG to Spain discount.
I realise in the dream I am a very messy person. Disorientated and very unorganised. The mind is all over the shop. The dream is not very continuous and will tend to hop from one moment to another moment.
We met with 2 couple outside a casino and started to hug each other. Jackie went hugging with men and women until they fall down on the floor. These 2 couples I think they come from Asia as they can speak Chinese so we recognise them once they alight from the bus.
The story goes like this. We are very excited on a news that there is a ticket sales of less than $50 to fly to Spain so we connected on a phone with some people on the phone. Initially it was a normal call and later we convert the call to a FaceTime. The person is a thin female hippie with tattoos in her late 40s.
The call was very messy and loud so in order to hear the person clearly we have to fly to Spain to find the person. The next moment the sense moved to Spain and we tried to talk to the person but she was interrupted by other task on hand. I remember the whole Spain experience only have casino, bars, clubs and nothing else in my dream.
Then what we pay in the casino and bars is very affordable as in comparable with Singapore so we ask ourselves why not we don’t go back and travel longer in Europe then. I remember I didn’t bring anything just a shirt, jean and a paper and pen of course wallet.
Later near the end I realise the dream become lucid and kinda can control the dream if I want to but I didn’t push on. This dream happen at my dad JB place.
Today we just went to petaling Jaya to view the manual kelisa gino. For the price of 9k on the road including transfer and inspection cost. It was down from the 9.8k initially quoted on Mudah. Since its manual so it will be slightly cheaper as no many people like manual car. We decided to bite the bullet and just buy straight cash from the dealer.
Insurance we went for 3rd party fire and thief which cost us $380 without NCD. 3rd party allows other to claim on your insurance company already. For the machine price of 6.8k average, insurancer does not want to cost cause it’s too cheap also. Road tax $20 and top up Touch and go card for $50. Bought a handphone stand for $32.
I left with a balance of $500 for touch screen music player and others. Tmr we plan to go JPJ to get the vehicle card.
Got a tire lock on the highway when I speed a little and jammed on the brake. Need to be careful in the future. Lucky skid forward only without freewheeling the back tire.
All for less than 10k ringgit. $3,037sgd still got change.
Today went to Chinatown to visit aunty. Since my mum wake I had not been visiting her for more than a year. Feel so guilty. When I sort out my mum photo album ytd then I realise she is my other mum. Or the closest I can call a mum liao. Therefore, I should really need to take care of her. I will want to put in more effort. So today I went down with Jackie and Clement to visit her for a short while.
Bring her to Chinatown Point to eat Toast Box and coffee. Order ham cheese set for her and I think she enjoyed the meal. Simple people like her needs very little to be contented I think. Simple food like Toast Box will give a lot of happiness. As we who have work and what not will overtime feel Toast Box is less of a treat. I start to want more and more and we are unable to feel happy for all these small little things.
What impress me is that she is able to read all the Chinese words on the zodiac board. She hasn’t went school but she self taught Chinese by reading magazine and read subtitle on Channel 8. Some more she is intel challenged. Very impressive how people are picking up knowledge. If you want we can almost achieve anything.
Lastly I was thinking to get her a phone to play tik Tok. But I scare to get her addicted to all these social media. Maybe by not having all these tech is something of blessing. I think she is kinda boring just to watch TV everyday and all days. I thinking a
Phone with tik tok may benefit her but now I think I shouldn’t introduce all these to her is better.
Today also met Liting and her sister Limin at Chinatown to eat fish head. Her sister is a warden officer and she is so alike to me.

-Don’t want to have children.
So on and so no. Very similar to me. I was thinking is it of our defence mechanism that made us become a super “I” person.
Liting mention a verse that impact me very deeply that what empowers her to overcome obstacles is love. I start to reflect on how this statement can apply to me. I try to think of an event that propel me forward is by way of love. I cannot think of any.
2 event obstacles comes to my mind, one losing love one and the other one is near death experience in Vietnam. Although both event I can think back and realise that there are people who love me are around to give me support. But this is not what I remember the incident for. What really drive me forward is using pain and suppressions. How I manage obstacles is to bite the pain and pull thru and once I got used to pain then pain is no longer painful. Apparently there are people although not a lot think akin to me.
Jackie cook lunch again. Clean and healthy meal again. Someday I weighted myself I am 73kg going to 75kg. Really suck. I need to do more exercise but now is like moonson period the rain had not being stopping for 2 days straight. I never had seen so much rain fall in Singapore before.

Today we do spring cleaning. I moved the newly bought metal shelf and move it to the kitchen. Sort out of leather craft tools box and clean up more of my mum stuff. I even sort out all of my mum’s photo albums and compile them to only 3 books. This will be all my physical photo moving forward.
I don’t know if I still working when will I never work on the photo album. I doubt my mum will even work on her photo as well. But today I spend the whole day sorting out her photo and I am loving it. Slowly take all out and select. Keep track of numbers of slot and then slowly fix it back via chronological order. I am really grateful that I do not have work at the moment so I can do simple and memorable task like this.
I had a feeling that my life purpose in life is to back track on my ancestor, grandma and so on. Those things that they had left for me, I do need time to look into it, assess the worth and think how to generate value out of it. Those value that was not enjoyed previously by these owner, I felt my job is to use up the value if not these item will always be bought and stored without any purpose other than passing it down to your children and then they will have a lot more things of a burden. You know things that was passed down by parent is hard to 断舍离. It really takes effort to let go of these things.

Today Jackie cooked simple meal. Luncheon meat and stream veg and brown rice. Oh. Still have the microwave chicken tight and mushroom. Still raining whole day. We decided to go out to walk.
Then we stumble over Collin’s having CNY promotion. A barramundi while fish for $16 and wagyu beef set for $21. Beer one pint for $5.80. Super cheap!!

Went to Jurong Westgate and went Nitori to buy a floor mat for my bathroom. For $12.90. Then also Jackie decided to upgrade our old mattress from origin mattress to just futon. So we bought $119 for the nitori one.

After that head to foot locker retail shop to buy a basketball shoes. Since I will be playing basketball on a regular basis. It’s is for health and safety that I invest in a proper basketball shoes. I need to stay active with at least 3 times of 30mins moderate exercise therefore now i had been actively playing basketball weekly.
Went up to Lazada to buy the LCD monitor arms. 2 arm for 2 monitor one F160 is selling $48 online with free laptop holder. So I think it’s cheap online. We will be waiting for tmr to cart out as there is a $15 voucher to snatch at noon 12 tmr.
Today rain the whole day. So I cannot play basketball again. Jackie spend the day doing leather, notebook and a cat figure to sell with our scrap leathers. I spend my time to install back the T line brake lever on my 3sixty.
Yesterday we went to Jurong East to collect the T line brake lever. After that we went shopping in IMM and I end up buying a new speaker for my computer. Creative sound blaster RG3. Sound is not bad. I need the bass for movie night on my desktop.
Today I super happy as I got my MacBook Air adaptor. Next time if we fly oversea I can bring MacBook Air without the needs to bring the power brick already.
This week also bought a metal shelf for $50. The metal is thin so cannot put too much stuff or I guess it will bend.
We also have been discussing that after chinese new year in mid Feb we shall start of 2025 travelling plan. Initially thinking to go Chang Mai but we found a better route. In Feb and March, basically Hanoi, China Nanning and Osaka is all in the winter. Weather is between 25 - 10 degree range. This time if we were to fly to nanning from SG is $135 and then from China fly to Osaka is $120. This route will be better over if we fly to Hanoi or Japan directly from Singapore.
We are really contemplating to bike travel in Hanoi, Nanning and Japan. These place is very bike friendly. I am starting to see bike trailer and big bag to pack brompton thru the airport and train station.
This week is a very productive week as Jackie came back from KL. She usually have to go back to Malaysia once every other month and on special holiday like Christmas for example.
Our week revolve in building up a checklist to be done in a month, and then we will do one item a day. Extremely not stressful at all. Like example we checked buying the metal rack and install it at the living room.
Today we buy couple of plumbing fixtures and starts to repair my old water system at home. Like shower head leaking water, washing machine leaking water and toilet old bidet also leaking water. Since recently there are climate voucher so we bought some and fix it.
I considered myself to have earned $170 revenue for the day. Why? Because I had found out that plumber will charge $70 for the first fixture and $50 for the subsequence. I repair 3 head today so instead of paying plumber $170 which is a saving for me, therefore its like I had earned the money like that.
Knowing how to repair simple things like electrical, plumbing and drilling holes on walls is really a need for renaissance man. If anyone like to learn you can always volunteer in repair kopitiam. Knowing how to repair brompton also can save a lot.
After watching 我们恋爱吧5. I started another of my favorite variety show 令人心动的Offer6. Their trend are only filming mostly lawyers intern / architect intern. Both career is very 卷。Often with absolute deadline, unreasonable working hours etc. Therefore I guess there are so many people who wants to enter the industry primarily for the status and money.
I am sharing above clip cause at the 7mins mark. There is a very brief but concise of a court case. It is very fundamental and I love keeping a copy for my future reference as knowing how some stuff work briefly will have a lot of good benefit for us.
I was only briefly introduced to the juridical system when I follow the johnny dep and Amber case. All the objections and what can be objected are explain in this video above.
When I am watching this video and the intern doing all the paper work and writing proposal for client or to the court judges they present the paper or case in a very similar way like how I used to do credit writing for trade in my past job.
Credit writing was a very good corporate writing and can train me on how to structure my arguement to the credit officer. Too bad I had got more time to learn the rope for credit writing. I do enjoy writing you know. It quite challenging as I am not good at writing structure sentences at all. But I can see myself being very proficient in credit writing if given another 2 more years in the business. It is not difficult, you just have to keep learning from my boss, senior and refers to other people with good cases put up. End of the day, given enough effort I believe everyone is able to do it.
People might find that being a lawyer might seem difficult, however it is the same. Just lawyer needs a lot of law background but I can also argue credit writing also needs a lot of trade knowledge from all business nature. I don't envy people with degree or master. Given enough time and effort, I believe everyone also can do a master. It is not really that difficult.
Jackie and I had left corporate life officially in this year. While she converted to freelancing and I had started my trading. (Trading time for happiness). This is not an easy steps for her and also she got into 7kg travelling so that our travelling time and cost can be kept at a minimum.
We had spent the whole year travelling (旅居）Asia thru places like Kulai (Malaysia), Nha Trang, Hai Phong, Hanoi, Ha Giang, Sapa (Vietnam) Ping Xiang, Naning (China) and Osaka, Kobe, Kamikawa (Japan). This year can said to be our 高光时刻. This kinda lifestyle might happen like once in a life time and I am glad we both enjoyed ourselves. I personally like Ha Giang, Vietnam the most due to the mixture of cost, view and experience.
All these lovely moments was well documented on our Youtube Channel (Short). Having a channel allows us to both learn some soft skills like filming and editing. But most importantly just like having this blog. A place to store our memories. Of course our story telling on the channel needs to improve but that will comes naturally as we do more clips. Remember we don't have a KPI to fulfil.
I completed 2 interior design projects on a part time basis. Although I only handles in the sales portions and I decided that I really want to spend more time to do execution or site supervision as I can learn a lot of handyman skill in electrical and plumbing specifically. Maybe in the further?
I also re passed my M5 paper which I now can be licensed but I decides to sit on it for another year cause I am not clear if I have the time to do all these.
I also passed by Class 2B again. Can have the option to be like my father riding over to JB to stay but I also not really looking to ride anytime soon as well. Now priority is still working on Alza for camping van trip in Kulai.
Which video I think the most, and why?
大马生活家 was one of the friend we got to know over Youtube and we had a lot to learn from his experience in growing the channel. We also have to overcome some negative comments online but well, love it or hate it, people always are quick to conclude so just allows other to have their own opinion. 课题分离 we just need to learn to see things objectively and not let others affect our mood :)
Well, I am really good at "被讨厌的勇气“ if any one is met with difficulties can come to me. I have a good way to always feel positive and happy regardless of external factors.

Which books I read in 2024?
Die with zero - Help me to really learn to spend money correctly on things that produce memory dividend. It is a very unique financial advise book which encourage you to spend money which I need some advise on. Saving is easy but spending is a problem for me. Fortunately, my better half Jackie is good at buying premiere items. Those item is slightly more expensive but tends to be the correct stuff and both of us do really enjoy these purchases. Example, Brompton Bicycle, coffee grinder, Cafelet Robot and the decision to go Japan travel. Although I paid more on these item, but the healthy benefit, long term saving and memory dividend is very rich. Thanks Jackie :)
What is the things that need to improve?
For health, 2024 I started to play basketball as a sport to improve my health, I hope to be able to stay active for coming 2025. I strive to have healthy and painless life experiences.
Personal growth, I would like to improve on communication. Better communication, articulation and story telling. 语言 is something very important in huamanity. I always poor in presenting myself correctly. Credit writing in my previous job really gave me good basic for corporate writing.
Menal wise, I love to find a passion item. Leaning towards, social work or nature like gardening or leathercraft. If not my micro retirement is going to be very bored and unable to get into flow. Furthermore, me and jackie will start running out of topic to talk :)
We will still be traveling for year 2025, as Jackie hasn't get travelling out of her system. It getting tiresome for me and love to touch a bit being more social. Life is great. I am happy and bless :)
