How to travel longer, spend less, and invest more: A guide to hospitality & work exchanges
During my 4 years of travelling, some app had really connected me to some really good friends. In this articles I will be sharing all hospitality & work exchange that can help you in your travel.
We will be able to travel longer if cost of accomodation is saved and able to experience more on the road then those usually tourist areas.
My experience with these apps
My first experience with this app was Couchsurfing which allow us to meet and stay with local in different country. I got to meet a Vietnamese host "Aline" and we became a good friend since then. She hosted me in Nah Trang, Vietnam and I hosted her in return when she travel back in Singapore.
Back then using the couch surfing app was free, since COVID they had revised the app into a paid app. I had been exploring into other method to stay for free aboard.
My friend told me that in many country, we are able to volunteer some skill, work in a farm or hostel. With daily work less than 4 hours (otherwise they are legally require to pay us salary) we are able to exchange our work for accomodation. I brought Jackie to experience one time in Kualai, Malaysia.
We are also lucky that in Japan, where the accomodation is so expensive, we are able to meet a traveller that connected by to a owner that provide work exchange in Kamikawa, Japan. Where we had the best time in Japan on our 2 months trip in Japan.
Having benefited from these platform, I had compiled some useful resources for us to reference in the future :)
