How i host for free on cloudflare + blogspot with Claude's help

 Woo woo.. I finally pull the tigger to buy my own domain name... 

It was quietly set as my bucket list since poly days when I write blog on blogspot in 2008 era. On blogspot I wrote for 10 years then slowly I moved over to Wordpress (Free) as the platform is better in allow me to update post on the go. Wordpress is a dedicated blogging and website and hosting business hence they are quite happy to keep the whole platform work like butter. 

Occassionally I do buy domain + hosting on Hostgator or Hostinger to help my client to build their website and I am using Themify Ultra as the builder. This is a business I did on the side to help people design and build website cheaply. But what i don't like about this combination is this:

1. annual fee of hosting after promotion period (usually 3 years later) will increase a lot.

2. domain need to pay seperately, SSL for security and domain privacy might incur additional cost.

3. lastly, if i were to build website with wordpress themify there are so many security update i need to minotor and upgrade otherwise there are also security risk to my account. 

So i was wondering is there any good combination that I can get domain and host it to something that is easier. OMG and the this is where Claude gave me a good suggestion, which is to:

buy a domain + host for free on blogger + design can use Claude code. 

This combination is good for a couple of reason, and no it does not work with domain and wordpress cause wordpress do not let you connect to alterate domain. Blogger works great because most of the picture content will be hosted by google anyway. Although it do not support as many plugin as wordpress but these plugin ends up just make your blog load longer anyway.

Therefore I went to buy domain for 10 years straight cost it is so cheap at $11 + VAT a year. So end up 10 years cost around SGD$150. Your personal domain is a namecard if you were to do freelance and the timing is so right as right now I am also promoting my new book, if needs to be hosted somewhere. 

For domain instead of Godaddy and Namecheap, I went with cloudflare, where provided SSL and security and DNS on their website. And the domain can be hosted with static HTML on their platform. It turns out great and that is just the landing page I need for my book. 

I hosted garynbc.com, frugalman.garynbc.com for the book

and point garynbc.blogspot and garynbc.wordpress all toward blog.garynbc.com now I am haivng the whole package and able to design my own playground for $150 over 10 years. A good investment for my earner anyway. I been busy recently with exam study and so many mini project to do.

To be honest, I felt in the AI era, all those mini project that I was holding back suddenly came into realisation. This is so great.
